Scholarships

Much of the School's financial assistance is based on documented financial need as demonstrated by completing the School's Financial Aid Application.  As with all New York Studio School financial assistance, students must be in good academic and financial standing to be considered for financial assistance In addition to the New York Studio School's general scholarship pool, there are various special scholarships that students may qualify for.  A few are listed below:


Gertrude Whitney Conner Scholarship for Excellence - This scholarship is available to incoming MFA applicants only. Scholarships are awarded in amounts up to $10,000 based on both artistic talent and financial need.  Artistic talent will be determined by the admissions committee of the New York Studio School which will review the standard application materials of the incoming student.  Students must demonstrate financial need through the school's Financial Aid Application to receive this scholarship.

 

Henry Wolf Foundation - The Henry Wolf Scholarship is a named scholarship to be awarded to one or more incoming or current MFA or Certificate Students annually based on financial need.  Students must demonstrate financial need through the school's Financial Aid Application to receive this scholarship.

 

Ramapo Award - This scholarship is given to incoming or current full time students in either the MFA or Certificate Program who are above the age of 40.

 

Harriet Glazier Endowed Scholarship for Women Painters - This scholarship is awarded to an incoming or current female painting student based on financial need.  Students must demonstrate financial need through the school's Financial Aid Application to receive this scholarship.

 

Hohenberg Travel Award - This scholarship is available only to current students who have attended the New York Studio School for at least 4 semesters.  The scholarship award is given to qualified candidates to be used as a stipend for European travel.  To apply for this award, students must submit a description of the applicants' travel plans as well as a piece of the applicant's recent work.  The award determined through faculty voting during an exhibition of the submitted artwork.  All voting faculty are provided with the descriptions of the student's submitted travel plans.

 

Absolute Secret Scholarship Award - The Absolute Secret Scholarship is awarded to incoming and continuing students based on financial need.  Students must demonstrate financial need through the school's Financial Aid Application to receive this scholarship.

 

Chautauqua Summer Scholarship - One full scholarship is available for the Chautauqua summer program for students enrolled full time during the Spring semester. Students nominate themselves to faculty who make recommendations to the Dean who ultimately chooses the candidate. Students must be in good financial and academic standing with the School. New York Studio School students are required to pay the application fee and must submit a portfolio to Chautauqua.  Additionally, students are responsible for their own travel and transportation of their supplies to and from the Chautauqua campus.

 

LCU Foundation Award - The LCU Housing Award is granted to incoming or current fulltime female MFA students who make less than $30,000 a year, receive little or no financial support from family members and remain in good standing within her program of study. Students must demonstrate financial need through the school's Financial Aid Application to receive this scholarship.
