My work is about the specificity of place with its resonance in the universal. Even as we live in the world and pass through its landscapes, we are at once remembering and reinventing it. Looking at a landscape allows us to map on top of what we witness, adding our own history as stores of visual associations. As artists, we mediate the place between ourselves and the world through fragmentary images set in personal code. These individual metaphors set to the epic story of landscape comprise my main subject matter of late. My process is one of experience and memory, working from drawings and stages of removal from the initial subject matter.
