Curator in the Department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In addition to Heroic Africans, Alisa LaGamma organized the following exhibitions at the Metropolitan:  The Essential Art of African Textiles: Design Without End (2008-2009); Echoing Images: Couples in African Sculpture (2004); Genesis: Ideas of Origins in African Sculpture (2002-2003).
