William Agee: Evelyn Kranes Kossak Professor of Art History, Hunter College. Specialist in American modern art from 1900-1970. Author of numerous publications in conjunction with exhibitions he has organized on Stuart Davis, Morgan Russell, Arthur Dove, John Marin, Fairfield Porter, Donald Judd, Sam Francis, Tony Smith, Alfred Jensen, among others.
Irving Sandler: Critic, historian, Professor Emeritus, State University of New York, Purchase, NY. Co-founder of Artists Space. Critic for ARTnews, Art International and Art Forum. Author of seminal works including the major survey of New York painting from the Second World War to the present, in four volumes, beginning with The Triumph of American Painting: A History of Abstract Expressionism, (1970).
Karen Wilkin: Independent curator and critic, specializing in 20th century modernism. Curator of numerous exhibitions internationally, and author of monographs on Stuart Davis, David Smith, Anthony Caro, Kenneth Noland, Helen Frankenthaler and Hans Hofmann. Currently teaches in the Master of Fine Arts Program at the New York Studio School.
American Vanguards: Graham, Davis, Gorky, de Kooning, and Their Circle, 1927-1942 will be on view January 29-April 29, 2012 at the Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase, NY.
